The construction of the Yazd–Eqlid railway, spanning 271 Km, began in 2011. This strategic project aims to connect Yazd Province to Fars Province, facilitate the integration of two major industrial and mining hubs, and reduce the overall length of the Shiraz–Mashhad railway by 310 Km.

The corridor is designed to support a transport capacity of 7 million tons of cargo and 3 million passengers annually over the next 20 years, significantly enhancing regional connectivity and economic efficiency.
