This freeway is part of the Tehran–Bandar Imam axis, with a total length of approximately 104 Km, making it 65 Km shorter than the equivalent route on the existing road network. Traversing the challenging terrain of the Zagros Mountains, the project required the construction of 15 tunnels with a combined length of 26 Km, and 14 bridges totaling 2,600 m in length.

In terms of construction volume, timeline, and impact, this project ranks among the largest and most significant freeway projects in Iran, offering a substantial reduction in both route length and travel time.

Notably, the construction was completed five months ahead of the contractual schedule. The Iran Oston Consulting Engineers was responsible for both the technical studies and supervision throughout the project’s development.
