
The Mashhad–Sarakhs railway was constructed to establish a crucial nationwide rail link between the expansive territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the countries of Central Asia, Northeast Asia, the Persian Gulf, and Europe. Studies and construction began in 1992, with the railway officially inaugurated in 1996.
Iran Oston Consulting Engineers was responsible for the studies and supervision of Sections 1, 2, and 3, covering a total length of 82 Km.
