Rudbar Bridge, as the largest bridge on the 2nd section of Manjil- Rudbar Freeway, is located at the entrance of Rudbar city adjacent to Sefidrud river. The total length of this bridge is 1165 m, consisting of 3 structural systems:

  • A pile-beam bridge with in-situ slabs measuring 45 meters at the beginning and 135 meters in the middle sections.
  • A prestressed concrete beam with in-situ slabs, featuring 10 spans at the beginning and 4 spans in the middle sections, each span measuring 40 meters.
  • Two balanced cantilever bridges: one in the middle section crossing over the existing Rudbar River bridge with spans of 50 + 85 + 50 meters, and another at the end section crossing the Sefidrud River with spans of 65 + 110 + 65 meters.

All piers are founded on deep piles with a diameter of 1.5 meters.

The balanced cantilever bridge at the end section, due to the critical importance of crossing the Sefidrud River and the lack of alternative routes in critical situations, was designed and constructed using the Friction Pendulum System (FPS) — the first application of this system in Iran.
